SAU Ranks as Türkiye's 12th Best Research University

Sakarya University has earned the title of "Research University," ranking among the top 20 state universities in Türkiye. The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) declared SAU the 12th state university with the highest scientific research performance.

Sakarya University has been upgraded to "Research University" status following a two-year monitoring and evaluation process conducted by the Council of Higher Education. After three years of work by the university administration, SAU ranked 15th at the A2 level in research performance rankings, and 12th among state universities.

With this title, Sakarya University's academic staff will expand, its laboratory infrastructure will be strengthened, and its project budgets will increase. Scholarship opportunities in undergraduate and graduate education will also increase.

With this development, the city's image as a center of natural beauty, tourism, and industry has been complemented by the addition of a science center.

Research universities are evaluated according to 32 performance indicators in terms of research capacity (number of scientific publications, number of citations, number of national projects, etc.), research quality (scientific publications by impact factor, etc.), interaction and collaboration (with industry and other educational institutions, etc.). Due to its performance in these criteria, Sakarya University was included in the Research University Candidate Monitoring Program last year.

The title of research university is determined based on performance and is classified as A1, A2, and A3. The rate of incentives that universities receive varies according to this classification.
